* You must have throwing competencies to enrol in this class. ie: you’re able to throw independently and with some degree of confidence.

This is an elongated chunk of fun, creative-time to be challenged alongside others.  We nerd out.

We will dig into:

  • Advancing your throwing skills by perfecting the basics

  • Throwing larger work, personalized ergonomic tips

  • Timing and STAGING your work for more success in repeating forms and larger pieces.

  • Lots of forms. whatever you would like to work on.  Ie: large pieces, complex Forms with seams, teapots, plates….

  • Personalized studio practice tips, troubleshooting, marketing and pricing advice

You will leave with

  • Intentional throwing skills and a new confidence on the wheel

  • A contemplative and creative "eye" to match and challenge your skills

  • Hand-building abilities that will simplify your design efforts and shake up your perception of the vessel

  • Simple design techniques to elevate your work

  • Ergonomic tips for strength, endurance and health

Workshop will include:

  • Making a lot of pots

  • Critique of current work and workshop work (no! It is not scary!) Critique is a fancy way of saying “learning to see” your pots

  • Design vocabulary and ways to implement the elements of design into all aspects of your work
